The domestic cat is a carnivorous mammal that is similar to humans because it is one of the favorite pets of children and also because its presence in the home scares away rats and mice, which are harmful animals, as they transmit some diseases. The objective of this research was to determine the prevalence of feline haemoplasmosis by performing cytological analysis, using Giemsa staining on blood smears, of the blood of cats of different sexes and ages from the Mirones Bajo del Cercado sector in Lima. 50 mixed breed domestic felines were used, to whom tranquilizers had to be applied in order to extract the samples, which were prepared to proceed with the laboratory protocol referring to Giemsa staining. My results have shown that feline haemoplasmosis does exist in the aforementioned sector, having found a general prevalence of 40 + 0.01%, in males 26 + 0.12% and in females 14 + 0.09%, being more prevalent in felines over 4 years of age in which 18 + 0.11% was obtained. In conclusion, I must indicate that the alternative hypothesis is accepted and that the prevalence found is high, which It implies that the necessary prophylactic measures must be applied for its prevention and control.
